    Flat Roofing

Replacing a commercial flat roof in Edmonton has its own challenges. A roofer is tasked with covering a large expanse that is subjected to extreme heat and cold as well as heavy rain and wind. As well, the roof will likely have vents or piping protruding from it and these must be cared for during installation with all of the proper care during the process and final sealing applied.

If this sounds challenging and tricky… that’s because it is. But, Edmonton roofer, Jayson Global, has the expertise and skill to repair or replace even the most complex and demanding flat roof job in the city. We excel at roof installation and ensure your roof is watertight and ready to battle Alberta’s famous weather for years to come.

There are a number of flat roofing options for homes and businesses or larger projects such as warehouses, factories and shopping complexes.  Depending on your size, budget, traffic requirements and location, there are many aspects to consider before installing or replacing a roof. We’ll discuss some of the roof types here, but if you would like to talk about your specific needs, a representative from Jayson Global would be happy to discuss flat roofing options in detail anytime and help you determine which flat roofing system is the ideal one for you.

    BUR (Built Up Roofing)

The BUR flat roof is a classic. BUR roofs (sometimes referred to as Tar and Gravel roofs) can be found across the province and are one of the oldest and most proven roof systems available.

The BUR roof is comprised of multiple membrane layers topped with a layer of gravel. Asphalt holds the layers together and provides waterproofing. The gravel / aggregate protects the roof from the elements.

SBS Modified Bitumen (Styrene Butadiene Styrene)

Like the BUR system, the SBS Modified Bitumen roof has been around long for a number of years and has proven itself in the test of time. SBS roofs are often seen on apartments, condominiums and office buildings because it is puncture resistant and can be used in high traffic areas.

    TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin)

TPO roofs are rapidly growing in popularity. This lightweight roofing system can be installed on top of an existing roof without having to remove it. Heavy equipment is not needed for installation, and it is not labour intensive, which makes it one of the quickest roofing systems to put in place. This makes it an attractive choice for larger buildings like shopping malls or major industrial buildings. TPO is not organic and cannot be broken down by water. This versatile roof can be mechanically fastened or held with adhesive.

    PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)

PVC shares many of the same sought-after characteristics as the TPO flat roofing system. They are both single-ply, lightweight and easy to apply. However, along with being mechanically fastened or held down with adhesive, the PVC roof can also be loose laid with ballast.

    EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer)

The EPDM roofing system shares many characteristics with PVC and TPO. All three systems are pre-made and factory approved before they are shipped to the site and installed. That gives them an advantage against defects over systems that are built on-site.

Along with professional installation and repair of these flat roofing systems, Jayson Global also offers you a variety of maintenance packages to give you peace of mind and many years of worry-free roof ownership.
